Dear CICLY members ,

I have been interested in lethal yellowing of palm since I saw a colour
slide shown by Wayne Sinclair to illustrate his talk to a conference in
Adelaide, June 2000. It showed a grove of rather sick looking coconuts. I
noticed that the ground beneath the palms looked blasted rather than lush
green and weedy. When asked why that was so, he could not explain it. I
thought it could be a clue and should not be disregarded.

As you see I am interested in coconuts, not least because my father-in-law
grows them, and in palms more generally, I grow six species here in my
garden. I am consequently concerned to communicate with people troubled by
such sick trees, because, I believe, my experience in relation to the
Mundulla Yellows phenomenon, here, may be relevant.

I refer members to an online article:

Regards,

Jim
