Re: LY in the Dominican Republic

Reina

Many thanks for your input. Please let us know if you
are publishing your findings in a joint paper with
Carlos and Michel (and they might write to
CICLY@yahoogroups.com to say if their data match the
PCR results that Ivan Cordova and Nigel Harrison
obtained from DR in 1999).

Can you be a bit more specific about the location of
the new outbreak so that the CICLY Dominican Republic
page can be updated? It presently says "Currently
active areas - Sporadic occurrences occur in the
places that were identified in the reports after 1970.
The disease cannot be called "active" although one
small hot spot was seen at Cabarete in 1999."

Is the new outbreak in the high density coconut
growing areas either side of Samana Bay? If so then an
epidemic might yet develop.

Gratefully

Hugh
